download.
Save the file as SC_WD365_2021_CS1-3b_FirstLastName_2.docx by
changing the “1” to a “2”.
If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type
it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.

PROJECT STEPS
- You are a human resources associate for K&L Insurance, a major insurance
company located in Nashville, Tennessee, and are completing a company report
on remote work. On page 1, change the case of the “Remote Work” title to
Capitalize Each Word to soften the tone of the title. - Change the theme colors to Violet to coordinate with the company logo.
- Add a shape to fill the blank space on the cover page as follows:
a. Near the bottom of page 1, insert a Rectangle from the Rectangles
section in the Shapes gallery.
b. Resize the new rectangle to a height of 0.5″ and a width of 6.5″.
c. Apply the Subtle Effect – Lavender, Accent 2 shape style to the
rectangle.
d. Remove the outline from the rectangle.
e. Drag the rectangle so that its top edge is aligned with the bottom edge of
the “Remote Work” blue rectangle and its bottom edge is aligned with the
top of the purple rectangle containing the three circular icons, as shown in
Figure 1.

- On page 2, format the heading paragraph “Introduction” as follows to set it
apart from the other headings in the document:
a. Apply a 22 point font size.
b. Apply the Fill: Lavender, Accent color 1; Shadow text effect. - Illustrate the contents of the report as follows:
a. In the blank paragraph in the “Introduction” section, insert a Basic Matrix
SmartArt from the Matrix section in the SmartArt gallery.
b. Enter the following text in the shapes: Upper-left shape: Status Upperright shape: Statistics Lower-left shape: Benefits Lower-right shape:
Challenges - Format the SmartArt as follows to suit the appearance of the document:
a. Change the SmartArt colors to Gradient Range – Accent 1.

period at the end of the sentence, insert a footnote with the following text:

- Draw and format a text box as follows to include a quotation about client
attitudes toward remote work:
a. Draw a text box to the right of the paragraph “Remote work is… applying
for jobs.” in the “Status of Remote Work” section.
b. Resize the text box to a height of 1.5″ and a width of 2.2″.
c. Position the text box using the Bottom Right with Square Text
Wrapping option.
d. Copy and paste the paragraph in the document

percent…half of the time.” and ending with the paragraph “More than 80
percent…work from home.” in the “Remote Work Statistics” section to make it
easy to read those results. - Format the paragraph beginning “The consulting firm…” and ending “…more
than 100 employees.” as follows to make it stand out on the page:
a. Apply a Lavender, Accent 1 shading color to the paragraph.
b. Change the font color to White, Background 1.
c. Center align the paragraph. - On page 4, copy the formatting from the text “Budget” to the text “Productivity”
to use consistent font formats in the “Benefits of Remote Work” section. - Format the picture of the checklist as follows to improve its layout on the page:
a. Add a border to the picture of the checklist using the Lavender, Accent 1
border color.
b. Move and position the picture so that all the body text in the “Benefits of
Remote Work” section appears to the right of the picture and the heading
“Benefits of Remote Work” appears above it.
c. Change the text wrapping to Square. - Modify the Heading 2 style as follows to differentiate it from the Heading 1
style:
a. Apply a 12 point font size to the Heading 2 style.
b. Change the font color to Lavender, Accent 2. - On page 5, set a custom tab stop of 2.75″ for the five paragraphs in the list in
the “Hybrid Workspaces” section (beginning “Days per week of remote work”
and ending “Reduction in voluntary turnover”) to align the percentages and
separate them from the text.
- On page 5, modify the table in the “Community Benefits” section as follows to
add new information and to coordinate with the other table in the document:
a. Insert a new row at the end of the table.
b. Enter Traffic reduction in the first cell of the new row, and enter 40% in
the second cell of the new row.
c. Apply the Grid Table 4 – Accent 1 table style. - Apply the Heading 2 style to the “Concerns” paragraph.
- Apply 48 point spacing before the paragraph beginning “For more
information…” to separate the paragraph from the rest of the document. - At the end of the “For more information…” paragraph, underline the email
address “[email protected]” to draw attention to it. - In the last paragraph in the document (“K&L Insurance…kl.cengage.com”),
replace the text “[insert diamond]” with a filled diamond symbol (Symbol font:
168) from the Symbol dialog box. - In the same paragraph, remove the hyperlink from the web address
“kl.cengage.com” because employees do not need to use it to access the
company website. - Add Outside Borders to the last three paragraphs in the document (beginning
“For more information…” and ending “K&L Insurance…kl.cengage.com”), and
then change the border color to Lavender, Accent 2 to separate the
paragraphs from the rest of the document. - Find all instances of the word “distance” and replace it with the word remote to
use the same term consistently throughout the document. - Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any
spelling errors. (Hint: Ignore names and grammar suggestions.)
